YouTube Sensation

This youtube video was  sent to me when I first tore my ACL, and I felt the need to share it. Every time I watch it, I don't know if I should laugh, feel awkward, or feel bad for the girl that took the time to make/plan it out. So basically, it is absolutely fabulous. Props to you 'EyeLuvDance4Ever'! Enjoy!

(rewatching it right now, I'm just noticing her shirt....if anyone can figure out what it says please comment below...)

Elliptical Day 1: Fail

I was given permission to use the elliptical at home now for exerecise, and was SO extremely excited to be able to do something active....that was until I began to use the elliptical. After a measly 7 minutes, I had to step off and take a break! In the 18 minutes I used the elliptical for, I had to stop twice! What was I thinking when I thought I'd be on the machine for 30 minutes?
On the plus side, I did have an incline of 11 and the resistance at 9! I ended up finishing 1.8 miles so I guess I worked hard for the little time I actually used the machiene....hmmm

Well it's something to work on!

Braceless!

HOORAH! This girl is braceless (once again)! Although I will still have to wear my brace for some exercises at physical therapy and sport, it literally feel FABULOUS to be able to walk around without, well, squeaking.

I have gone through 4 different braces so far, and my newest one is definitely the most intense one yet....it sort of look like darth vadar....
I believe it's called the CTI Ossur
Last time I was cleared to practice, I wasn't given the a brace to play in. Since that didn't work out so well last time, I am SO glad that I will have this chunk of metal with me this time. (Ironic, huh?)

Car Ride Pains

Other than missing the hometown visits on the Bachelorette, I'm having a few other problems on our present car ride to Lake George. One slight annoyance I've found with ACLs is that you can't stand or sit in the same position for more than a few minutes. Therefore, one would be able to see how sitting in a jam packed car for 3 hours isn't the prime activity for my knee.

Right now I've got my leg across my dads arm (who's driving) ... Sort of feel bad that I'm basically ontop of him but, hey, what are ya gonna do!?

So, basically, my suggestion to you all is to make sure you have some leg room before you leave on any summer trips, and stop to walk every hour. (I hope we do!!!) Happy summer and happy trails!

Appointment Numero Dos

So I just got back from my 6 week post opp appointment (aka my 42nd week...) at Hospital for Special Surgery, and I'm happy to say it went really well!
1) I can 'float' as long as I don't kick my leg in the water adding further 'stress to my new ligament'
2) I can go on boat rides (praise the lord is all I can say)
3) I can use the elliptical next week (exercise...YAY!)
4) I'll be jogging with my brace on in the next 8-10 weeks (AHHHHH!)

As one can tell, it was a good way to start off the day....but I happened to ruin it an hour later when I realized I had thrown out my wallet with my drivers permit and credit card in it; so, ya know, thats alway good.

Till next time, 'peace and blessings,' as Glozell would say.

6 Week Hopes

I'm headed to the doctors tomorrow for my 6 week post opp and hoping I won't be too disappointed after it. I'll update y'all tmrw with my progress...hopefully there is a lot of it! Wish me luck!

Hoping I'll be able to:

1) to be allowed to 'swim' aka float in the lake on the fourth of july
2) to be braceless (this is pushing it...)
3) to use the elliptical
4) to be able to do more exercises
5) go on boat rides on the lake
